Janov Millwork & Manufacturing Closets Expo TourDan Janov addresses part of the attendees who toured Janov Millwork & Manufacturing at the close of the 2012 Closets Expo. AUSTIN, TX - Attendees of the 8th Closets Expo had an opportunity to tour Janov Millwork & Manufacturing (JMM), a company that is readying plans for expansion.

Dan Janov and his son, Justin, led the tour which took place right after the Closets Expo closed on Friday, Feb. 17.

The company specializes in high-end custom millwork, case goods and furniture for office and commercial interiors, healthcare facilities and educational institutions. One of its most high-profile jobs was furnishing woodwork for Mellow Johnny's, a bike shop owned by Tour de France legend Lance Armstrong in downtown Austin. The University of Texas, also  located in Austin, is a frequent repeat customer.

JMM currently employs 31 people, 24 in the shop and seven in the office. Wood fabricating equipment includes a Homag Ambition 2262 edgebander, a CMS CNC router, an SCM Formula sliding table saw, a Schmalz vacuum lift and a variety of classical woodworking equipment.

JMM enjoyed a 20% increase in sales last year, hitting sales of approximately $4 million, following a pair of down years. The Janov's are debating whether to add onto the existing 11,000-square-foot facility or purchase a new building. Those expansion plans include adding several new pieces of technology from Stiles Machinery, including a Weeke machining center, Buetfering widebelt sander and Ironwood shaper.
